General Information

The Open House London event is fully inclusive and admission is free for all Open House London events each September. You will need to find out which buildings are opening / walks and talks planned in order to plan your visits. Get hold of a copy of the printed programme (available mid-August each year), or check out the website search facility which goes live in mid-August. Along with a brief description and the name of the architect, each building’s entry in the Guide or in the website search facility will contain its address, opening days and hours, access to visitors, pre-booking details where relevant, amenities and transport.

Entry

Open House London is a free event in which all sections of the community are invited to participate. Please note that each building's opening, security arrangements and refusal of entry are controlled by individual owners, and entry to each building is on terms and at times specified over 20 & 21 September 2008. Participation in events and activities is at your own risk. Information for this event is provided by contributors. Open House has taken all reasonable care to verify the information provided and cannot accept responsibility for any variation from details publicised. Please do respect building owners and their privacy, and be mindful of photo taking.

Pre-booking

Entry to a few of the properties will require you to book in advance. Where this is through the building, contact details are given. Bookings adminstered by Open House are also indicated, and these bookings are only taken through this website. You need to go to the search pages, enter the building name into the 'name contains' field, and click on 'Submit'. There, you need to go into the detail page, where you must click on the 'Pre-book online' link which takes you to the booking page for that building. Please note that bookings open on the morning of 11 August and not before. Available slots at specific times will be displayed, you can select to book either one or two places, and then enter your contact details including correct email address for one or both people. You will then be sent an email confirmation with your ticket number. If the tours for that building or event have been fully booked out then it will display 'FULL'. If tours are fully booked for a building that you were particularly interested in, you may submit your email address to vol1@openhouse.org.uk. In the week before the event we will notify everyone on this list of all the buildings that have spaces left or have had cancellations.

In all cases, we do ask that you allow only 2 places per person, and that you promptly cancel and release any bookings no longer required. Please bear in mind that the booking is on a first come basis and no vacant slots can be guaranteed. Please be aware that some buildings will become full quickly due to popularity, which Open House is unable to accept responsibility for. The Gherkin, or 30 St Mary Axe, is NOT participating in Open House London 2008.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This year, due to an excessive number of 'No Shows' at pre-book buildings in previous years, we will be monitoring no-shows at buildings. You will need to be sure to cancel and release your bookings up until Thursday 18th September if you know in advance you cannot attend. If you discover on the day that you cannot attend, you will be able to email vol1@openhouse.org.uk with your notification. Any person that fails to notify Open House in either of these ways, and doesn't attend a booking, will be blocked out of all future bookings for Open House London events.
