London Night Hike - 14 September 2007

Open House and Maggie’s have teamed up for the 3rd year running to create a fundraising event with a difference...London Night Hike 2007. A 17 mile night-time sponsored hike followed the circle line route...taking in visits to Guildhall, The Wellcome Trust Gibbs Building, The Royal Geographical Society, City Hall, and last but not least, a night-time flight on the London Eye.

Architects' Houses from Bromley to Brick Lane

Fashion Designer Margaret Howell hosts an evening of short illustrated talks by architects on designing and living in their own houses.

Speakers are Ivor Berresford RIBA, Will Russell RIBA and Julian Powell-Tuck RIBA. The Berresford and Powell-Tuck homes are also open for Open House London event.

Film London will be sponsoring a special talk to take place after the Open House event, exploring the relationship between film and architecture and using as the basis an Open House building which has featured as film locations. Check here for more details soon.

Design agency Imagination are hosting a special art installation on 15 September 'New Vitruvians' by New York-based Imagination designer and former architect Yazmany Arboleda, coming to the UK following a time at the New York Issey Miyake store. The installation offers a contemporary take on the intricacies of human beauty and perfection, and reveals new truths about perceptions of physical ideals, and the social and cultural factors that influence them. 'The Greening of the Capital's Homes ' are two talks on Open House eco-homes by architects and home-owners. Talks take place on 11 & 13 September at the Allgood Gallery, W1. Click here for full details and for how to book your place!

Transport for London partnership

Transport for London's Journey Planner service will again facilitate visitors’ travel before and during the event. The new and improved map-based portal to the buildings listings on the Open House website (live from 15 August) will have an interactive pinpoint location facility, specially developed with TfL. Archiwalk - Camden

We are joining forces with DIY Planet Repairs, the Mayor of London’s campaign, which aims to cut London’s carbon emissions and make London a cleaner greener, more sustainable city. This walking guide for the Camden area will help visitors explore London on foot, taking in walkable routes between buildings. The map will be available through the Open House website from early September, at Camden libraries in advance of the event or at participating buildings during the event.
